Lisa Kline Biography

Lisa Kline was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. From an early age, she was interested in fashion and always knew that she wanted to have her own clothing store. Lisa began working in retail at 15 years of age and then at 18 went to study fashion design at Syracuse University. While studying there, she often traveled to New York City for fashion trade shows and ultimately realized that her true passion was for buying and selling clothes. Upon graduating cum laude, she moved back to Los Angeles and continued to gain retail experience while scouting possible locations for her own boutique. Lisa eventually decided on a location, which at that time, presented no clothing boutique competition at all – a quaint interior decorator’s street called Robertson Boulevard. After years of envisioning it, her childhood dream became a reality when in August of 1995 she opened her first Lisa Kline boutique. Lisa Kline set the tone for what would become not only one of the hottest streets to shop in Los Angeles, but in the country.

With the success of her women’s store, men would often ask, “When are you opening up a men’s store?” In April of 1999 Lisa Kline Men opened directly across the street from Lisa Kline Women. Lisa said, “I needed another challenge, there weren’t as many choices for men as there were for women. Men have always needed help and guidance when they shop and I wanted to provide that, it can be life changing!” The store was such a huge hit that shortly after opening Los Angeles Magazine voted it “Best Men’s Store” in their Best of LA issue. In 1999. Celebrities who love the men’s store include; Jeremy Piven, Rob Lowe, Jason Lewis, Jesse Metcalfe, Christopher Lloyd, Shawn Marion, Jason Witten, Kellan Lutz, Barry Bonds, Dave Matthews and Keyshawn Johnson.

In 2007, Lisa Kline was nominated Retailer of the Year, as well as presented a Vision Award from the Friendly House. Cosmopolitan voted Lisa Fun Fearless Female, and MR Magazine awarded Lisa the Fearless Leader Award for her Men’s store.

Lisa Kline is known for putting brands on the map with her keen eye and has hlped build followings for brands like: Juicy, Joe’s Jeans, Rebecca Taylor, Paige Denim, James Perse, Splendid, Ella Moss, Theory, Cynthia Vincent, Ever, Howe, David Lerner, and Rich & Skinny, and many, many more. She has also designed her own line of men’s and women’s clothing that has been sold in her store throughout her career.

Lisa has been featured as a fashion expert on television shows like Good Morning America, MTV, VH1, Style File, E! News, KTLA Morning News, Mel B’s It’s a Scary World, and Fox 11. She appeared as one of the four panel judges on the popular Bravo TV show “Launch My Line’ and is in the process of writing a book.

She currently lives in Studio City with her two children, her giant English Mastiff, and her famous Moluccan Cockatoo.
