August 5th 1995 was one of the most fulfilling days of my life. That was the day I opened my first store on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles. A dream I had envisioned since I was a little girl. That dream was cultivated my entire childhood, at least since I was 9 years old. After college in NY, moving back home to LA, and working for someone else in retail I decided that I could do this myself, my way, my style, and my vision. I also couldn’t wait to make my dream a reality. My passion was burning very bright from within, I was fearless, driven and determined to open my first store when I was 25 years old. That was my goal, and that I did.
I have never felt more proud, and lucky to be able to live my dream. I must say that the satisfaction of fulfilling a dream is indescribable. A high of its own kind, which always continued my drive. I was continuously motivated to be the best I could be, beat to my own drum, start trends, educate, promote, make friends, create relationships, connect all day long with whoever walked in, work with my incredible staff who helped make my vision come to light. Together we ran a stellar operation of retail genius together for so many years. Without them there wouldn’t have been the same experience or success, I am forever grateful and my relationships with these incredible souls are still deep.
As I look back to the last 20 years and all that I have experienced and accomplished from the business of fashion I created, the brands built, the trends started, putting Robertson Blvd on the map, immersing myself in every category from women’s, men’s, kids, gift and home, and best of all, creating the standard for true LA style where being comfortable, casual and stylish is a way of life makes me smile. The incredible people I have met along the way and relationships I have cultivated make my heart full. What I have learned, taught and mentored was so stimulating. Saying I feel lucky to have experienced it all is an understatement.
Experiencing the heyday was a moment in time that only if you were there would understand the power and energy behind it. I feel blessed to have lived it at that time because there really was nothing better. It was the magical mystery carpet ride, always an adventure, always a pleasure, and always a treat.
Being a buyer satisfies my soul. I am a true hunter and gatherer and nothing gives me more of a thrill than finding a new brand, or meeting a new designer. I pride myself on being a true curator and purveyor of fashion and style in all categories.
Thank you for your support for the last 20 years and trusting me with your fashion needs. It has been a true pleasure to dress you. Knowing your own sense of style is sexy and powerful.
