Lisa Kline Women's Store
Where It All Began
With a powerhouse career that kicked off in 1995, I created the heyday of retail with Lisa Kline on Robertson Blvd. LK was a destination before “influencer” was even a word. I set the tone for LA’s iconic fashion scene in the ‘90s and 2000s, spotlighting individuality, risk-taking, and the best style.
With a 30-year career rooted in the golden era of LA fashion, I built Lisa Kline into a retail empire that defined West Coast style. My stores weren’t just destinations—they were the epicenter of LA style in the '90s and 2000s, setting trends long before the influencer era hit.
From Robertson to Malibu and Beverly Hills, my shops buzzed with celebrities, stylists, and fashion lovers from around the world. We styled every hot TV show, dressed every “it” celeb, and created the first-ever paparazzi curtain. My eye for talent helped launch Juicy Couture, James Perse, Theory, Vince, add True Religion, 7 Jeans, AG, Alice and Oliva and many more into well-known brands, household names and stand-alone shops.
I became a go-to fashion expert on shows like The Hills, The Newlyweds, Hell’s Kitchen, E! News, FOX News, GMA, Today, and Bravo’s Launch My Line. I even hosted 3 seasons on HSN, with my own Loungewear line, called Lisa Kline both live and unscripted.

WINDOW DISPLAYS
WOMEN'S ROBERTSON STORE
I had 2 huge windows at my flagship store on Robertson Blvd, a perfect spot to create unique and vibrant window displays to set the tone of what was going on for the month. I hired my mom Nancy Kline, who had full creative control and was the genius behind the designs. She surprised us every month and we styled the 8 mannequins accordingly to her themes and color schemes brining the clothing in the store to life.
Each window she designed she always liked the best and better than the one before and my mom always outdid herself. Her and my dad Larry used to run around LA and buy items, new and found as well as create things from scratch to put in the windows to bring the themes to life. My dad always took pictures which I am lucky to have today as memories, a moment in time and to remember what the style was like back then and share with you on my website. She always incorporated my name, logo and brand into the designs in a clever way that looking back at them now brings a smile to my face. The windows were so good! They were a major factor in my stores success as it drew people in off the street, created a fun vibe, were always themed, funny, festive, seasonal, set the tone for what we were promoting, the latest trends, and the true essence of Lisa Kline as who would know best but my mom, THE Nancy Kline.

THE FAMOUS PAPARAZZI CURTAIN
LISA KLINE
Robertson Blvd became hottest shopping street in the country in the early 2000’s. People came to my store from all over the country and the world to hopefully get a glimpse of Hollywood, see a celebrity in real life and get some unique cool LA Style with my masterfully curated mix of products featuring the best contemporary brands in the marketplace.
The street was swarming with celebrities and it was hard to hide behind the huge lenses of the prying eyes of the aggressive paparazzi who made a lot of money with one good photo. They caused a terrible amount of chaos on Robertson Blvd. including several car accidents, arrests, ruined my landscaping and flowers every week, and just created total mayhem on the street.
My solution to that problem besides hiring a security guard full time, was to design and install an electric paparazzi curtain to protect my celebrity customers that we could control from the counter where my registers were. It was genius at the time, quite hilarious and very expensive! I was even surprised when I drove by on my way into work and I saw the curtain down. I always wondered who was in the shop!
When it was down everyone it even drew more attention to the store because it had my full logo blasted across it in a huge font and everyone knew there was a celebrity in the store, but on the inside my clients were safe and protected and it made us all feel more comfortable as well as it became famous. FASHION SHOWS
LK
I have to give credit to Amanda Reno, a stylist who shopped in my store for her clients when I opened way back when. She told me I should do a fashion show and she would help me so I said sure. My first fashion show was at the Conga Room on Wilshire Blvd.
That was the start of many fashion shows that became one of my signature events drawing in loads of people at clubs and hotels around Los Angeles and Hollywood. I had fashion shows at the Key Club, Wyndham Bellage, Hollywood and Highland, The Viper Room, El Dorado, Las Palmas and more! They were sexy, with girls half naked in lingerie, some were painted, pasties and swim, great music, a fantastic vibe and just super fun. Celebrities showed up and everyone stayed after the shows, partied and socialized. You could feel the energy in the room, the fashion, and the fun. They were serious events!
I don’t do anything simple and easy so in true LK style, my fashion shows were 2 hours long, had men’s and women’s, and every category we sold in the store. Not much work got done or sales when we were prepping for these events. Our focus was on finding models, pulling looks together, doing fittings, selecting music, hiring photographers, designing the pamphlet to feature the brands and models in the show, and on and on. The stores were crazy during those times with the energy vibrating onto the street! The shows got a lot of press and even the local news showed up to film!
